IMAPIAW v0.3 - Release & Patch
Hello everyone!
It's been a while... Hasn't it ? 4 months, actually.
This third update of IMAPIAW will have taken me some time to develop.
I share a lot of information on Discord, as well as on Patreon... So don't hesitate to join us if you want to follow the game news.
Compatibles backups
Let's start with a big piece. The backup system has received (many) changes, in order to allow compatibility between IMAPIAW v0.2 .save files and v0.3. So I say it clearly and precisely; You can use your v0.2 saves with v0.3.0. Unfortunately, this good news has a slightly darker side.
Indeed, v0.1 backups are not and will not be compatible with v0.3.0, as well as any other future version of IMAPIAW.
I know some people were counting on v0.1 saves being compatible with later versions of the game. After much testing... I realized that allowing v0.1 saves on new versions of the game would be a real struggle, both for me and for you players. Between the new game mechanics, the modified/deleted map parts, as well as the changes applied in the different labels of the game... Well, you would lose all logical sense in IMAPIAW.
And I insist on this fact. IMAPIAW version 0.2 has changed the game a lot. And it was even more so in this third version.
So I made a decision, which will certainly be criticized at first and understood at second; IMAPIAW v0.1 saves are and will not be available in the following game versions.
I will not go back on this decision.
If you wish to resume IMAPIAW at the end of v0.1, you will be presented with an option when you start a new game.
This option was presented to you in v0.2 and I think I'll leave it there for another update or two to allow any player to resume the IMAPIAW adventure, if they gave it up in v0.1.
To get back to the heart of the matter, the save system will allow you to keep 99% of your progress. The missing percentage is your inventory.
Indeed, the inventory has also received a lot of changes, even to its source code. For security reasons, your inventory will be reset when you try to load an IMAPIAW 0.2 version (your money is not counted as an item in the inventory, so the money will NOT be reset).
To compensate for this injustice, you will receive 2 legendary experience potions and two incredible flower bouquets. These items will allow you to level up your favorite girls faster. (And as a little extra, I'll add 10 gold).
The Inventory
As mentioned above, the latter has received a complete overhaul. It is absolutely out of the question to see 50 times the same item in your inventory without being able to get rid of it. Now, each item in your inventory will only appear once. If you have more than one item, you can check the details of the item by clicking on it.
In addition, the inventory takes on a little more meaning in this third version.
You can now sell your items in the different stores in the game (And I'm not talking about a rather... lame system like the one Cheryl had. Each store now has a UI).
Items
I hesitated a lot to add this category in the inventory, but it deserves its own space in this patch notes.
A lot of work has been done on the different items in the game, as I think they can give IMAPIAW a certain rhythm.
This version 0.3.0 will especially allow to test your appreciation of some new objects. I'm talking about the flower bouquets.
These are manufacturable. You will be able to go through the forest to collect flowers and leaves, allowing you to build a bouquet of flowers.
Crafting system
At this time, only flower bouquets can be made. As I just said, I want to check if you like this mechanic first. If you like it, other crafts will appear in the next versions of the game.
For now, the concept is rather simplistic; you have to collect flowers throughout the map, which will allow you to build flower bouquets. You will be able to offer these to a girl in order to increase her experience.
The question might be asked, so I'll say it now; Yes, flower bouquets and experience potions can be used together.
(PS: Flowers only have 50% chances to spawn everyday.)
Fishing system
Many of you have reported to me that fishing was unplayable (or only for a while) without an auto-clicker. I will admit that it was too complicated.
To counteract the too difficult aspect of fishing, a button has appeared; Auto-fishing.
It's pretty simple and I don't think I need to explain how it works. This button will allow you to fish automatically, without breaking a finger.
The Prologue
I have a little secret to tell you.
The prologue had the very first images of the game. I was a beginner in image creation.
So you can understand my particular interest for the prologue. The prologue has been totally redesigned. The scenario has not moved an inch because it continues to reveal itself little by little as the updates of IMAPIAW arrive.
Shadows, textures, lights,... Everything has been redone on the graphic side. Is it necessary to restart the game? Absolutely not. As I said, the scenario has not changed. Let's face it, it was one of my whims. I really wanted to redo the prologue, and this third version of IMAPIAW allowed me to do it.
The Gallery
On the gallery side, there are also some changes and improvements.
I promised it during v0.1 and... Totally forgot to add it in v0.2 but here it is. You can now see the images you have acquired, without having to close the previous image to return to the general list. (A little shoutout to dark971, who didn't hesitate to remind me of this little oversight).
As for the additions, 159 new images have been added.
Finally, you will probably notice a change in the gallery UI.
I'll talk about it later in this patch notes, but I'm planning to modify the IMAPIAW UI little by little. So the gallery is a test, to get your feedback.
The Dungeon
It's time to announce some big news; The dungeon has been removed from IMAPIAW.
I never really said anything about the mechanics of the dungeon. So I will clearly explain the reasons for the removal here.
When I started developing IMAPIAW, I didn't expect so many players to be interested in the game. So I developed the dungeon, a place where most of the sex scenes would be gathered. From the beginning, I was like, "I'll put this in for now and see how it goes.
The dungeon was not very well done though. The animations were often poorly done, and many criticized the logic behind the place.
I had originally planned to remove the dungeon in IMAPIAW v0.4. However, the appearance of a new mechanic helped me to reverse this decision. I'll tell you about it in the next section.
The dungeon and all its animations have been removed from the game.
Pimp Industry
Probably the longest section of this patch notes.
As I just said, the dungeon has been removed, and this decision was largely influenced by the introduction of the company system.
After completing the various (main) quests leading to the construction of a new building, you will have access to your company. In your company you will have access to various new features of IMAPIAW. The first and most important one is that you will be able to prostitute girls for money.
In order to develop your business, you will be able to buy different improvements (which will come to life in future updates of the game), allowing you to earn more money.
Please note that when you send a girl to work, she won't be able to be seen in any of the IMAPIAW locations. You will have to spend a whole night in bed to get them back.
The industry system will not allow you to see any interaction between a girl and her client.
This is the option I had decided to develop. But... I opted for something different.
Let's do a short calculation. There are 10 girls available to work. Let's multiply that by the number of clients; 10. So we get to 100. Let's take into account the different times of the day (6), and finish our calculation.
To see each of the girls with a different animation with each client at each time of the day ((10*10)*6), we would have to create 600 different labels. (The dungeon only had 75 animations)
And to be honest, I even started the development of such a system. But the number of labels to develop is simply colossal. That's why I abandoned this idea. The repetitive side of this system would only fulfill you half way and would take way too much time to develop.
That's why I decided to go back to an old idea that has been in my head for some time. The next update (I'm talking about v0.3.1) of IMAPIAW will focus exclusively on the industry system. You will be able to explore the daily life of the company, while accomplishing goals such as "send this girl with that client". I'm already working on this system which, I promise, won't take 4 months of development.
And of course, the different choices you make in this mechanic will impact the rest of your company's story.
Your company is the great replacement for the dungeon. Its system is, in general, quite simple and I'll let you discover it directly in game. As for the moments spent in the dungeon with your favorite girls, you can do the same with your company. The animations have all been redone to adapt them to the company.
You even have direct access to various IMAPIAW statistics, such as the number of times you've spent time with a girl. Unfortunately, since this feature is new, it doesn't count the number of times you spent time with a girl in previous versions.
I think I've managed to convey one idea; The enterprise system is VERY far from finished. Many improvements and additions will be coming very soon. So this first version of v0.3 is the basis for the next few updates.
The map
And yes! After 5 months (Yes, IMAPIAW is only 5 months old as I write this), a map has finally been developed. However, it will only be accessible after completing certain quests. If you like it and want to see it earlier in the game, I'll look into it to replace the teleporter that is not used that much.
New places
The appearance of a map means new places!
Jahara, Estraghar, Isalys,... Places that must seem quite enigmatic to you. Don't worry, they will be properly introduced in the game.
These places will also be developed in the few updates of IMAPIAW to allow you more freedom. NPCs, stories, city explorations,... I'm planning a lot of stuff about this.
New girls
Without big surprises, new girls join the IMAPIAW adventure. More and more girls are arriving and inevitably, it is necessary to make choices. That's why one of the scenario choices put forward in this v0.3 might surprise you, amuse you or maybe even disappoint you.
I don't really like to give too much information about what's going on in the storyline. I will, however, give a very small nudge.
"Don't go too fast. Or else you'll want to do it again."
I'll put that down here. Interpret it however you want, and do what you want with it.
Anyway, there are 9 new characters, however, some will not join the deck. Only 4 characters will become characters that you can spend time with and level up.
Moreover, in order to test (again) a new mechanic, one of them will have to be unlocked before joining your deck. I let you discover the rest directly in game.
Proofreader
Let's talk about IMAPIAW's sore point.
As you know, it's no secret... I'm not that great at english. I still make a lot of mistakes when using this language and many of you have pointed this out to me.
I first tried to make my own corrections... Which went nowhere. I could see mistakes here and there, but I was unable to correct all the texts in the game.
That's why I called on two friends who were much more comfortable with the english language than I am. I will probably never thank them enough for this service.
All the texts of the game passed through their hands in order to apply all the corrections they could find. All the corrections are now applied, but I must make a small disclaimer.
The game is well and truly fixed. But mistakes are probably still there. I am the only person to blame for this. IMAPIAW contains a lot of lines of text and our two proofreaders have done their best. I thank them!
Discord
We're getting away from the patch notes concept a bit on this one... But this follows on from the previous category.
The Discord server is about to be seriously modified. Cleaner channels, new ranks and above all... Events. With the help of Veldora, the Discord moderator, we have thought of different things to give the community a rhythm. That's why events will be organized very soon, to give a spark to what I hope will become a big fire.
To explain the concept in a few words, players who want to help the development of IMAPIAW will be... Rewarded. Well, it's not that simple.
If we find out that you are helping the development of IMAPIAW by reporting bugs, spelling/grammatical mistakes... You will receive the role of "Big guy".
This role, once assigned, will give you access to the "Guess the Number" event. A rather simplistic event whose objective is to guess a specific number.
The winner of the event will receive a picture with two characters of his choice.
We will try to hold this event once a week. More details will be posted on Discord soon.
Sounds of the game
IMAPIAW sounds have received some corrections/adjustments. It is no longer a question of having a music that starts again at the slightest interaction.
The system can be greatly improved... But first let's see if it suits you as it is now.
The next updates
If you have read the whole patch notes, you should have understood the idea. This 0.3 version of IMAPIAW is only the first one. Several times during the writing process I used the term "0.3.0" or "0.3.1", and this was not by accident.
IMAPIAW's story progress will take a little break, to allow me to develop the gameplay aspect of the game. Game mechanics, crafts, new animations... Many things are about to be developed.
This decision is not insignificant. I make this choice in order to catch a more regular rhythm concerning the updates. 4 months... It's way too long. As much for you as for me. I don't regret at all to have taken time to develop this third version of IMAPIAW; it was a bad thing for a good thing. All the basics for the rest of the game are there, we just have to add them.
It was long, I agree. The next few updates will be smaller, more focused on a particular point.
Understand that between v0.2 and v0.3... There is a world of difference. It's something that will be less felt between v0.3.0 and v0.3.1.
